Subject-Specific: Conceptual Understanding in Mathematics

By admin, 29 August, 2024

This program, targeting grades 4-10, is built on a model that intertwines content; instructional strategies; formative assessment; mathematics education research on student learning of specific math concepts; and common errors, preconceptions and misconceptions students have when learning new concepts or solving related problems.

The program comprises six content-focused workshops and additional workshop materials for lesson design, questioning techniques and solving word problems. These materials can be embedded in any of the content-focused workshops. The professional development sessions combine math content with research on student learning, analysis of evidence in student work and instructional implications and review of instructional materials.
